Item 42: Agate Snuff Bottle

Description:
A fine mottled agate snuff bottle of tapered vase form, flared neck with pierced foliate stopper and silver strapwork. The pale grey translucent agate was a favorite form of the emperor during the Qianlong period (c1736-1795). Palace craftsmen formed similar bottles for dignitaries. 03QW7
