DD Allen Plays The Old Fire Station in Bournemouth
Bournemouth’s biggest indie rock night arrives on Friday November 10 when DD Allen returns to The Old Fire Station to play the ‘The Big Hometown Headliner’.
It’s been a spectacular year for the Singer-songwriter and his band of local musicians who won the regional heat of The Pogues Irish Whiskey Shot at Discovery competition earlier this year at the same venue.
The band went on to compete in the grand final at the O2 Islington in London and have been rewarded with support from Academy Events to promote a local headline show in November.
But the Pogues competition is only part of the success achieved by the talented artist this year.
The band played at Camp Bestival after reaching the finals of the Bestival Invaders of The Future competition leaving festival founder Rob da Bank haliling DD Allen as “a very very cool band”.
A high voltage performance was also delivered at Ireland’s Electric Picnic festival earlier on this month after the band showcased their talents at a selection event earlier on in the year in Co. Meath.
And it doesn’t stop there; after the video for debut single ‘Just Like The Old Day’s won ‘Best International Music Video’ at Cardiff’s premiere film festival, Allen has now been nominated in the ‘Best Unsigned Male’ category at the 2017 Best of British Unsigned Awards.
DD Allen’s music is an exciting guitar led, rock infused lyrical tour de force and has evolved continuously since the artist was awarded a support slot for James Blunt in Nov 2014.
Now working with music producer Mark Tucker (Portishead, PJ Harvey, Fairport Convention) on the eagerly awaited debut album, the sound has taken on a rich rock and blues influence with elements of everything from The Rolling Stones to The Verve.
Fans who catch DD Allen at The Old Fire Station in Nov are promised a huge show with a full 9-piece band set up and fresh arrangements to the massive back catalogue of music.
Completing the line up on the night are western indie stalwarts Jared and The Mill from Phoenix Arizona and local acoustic award winner Lee Rasdall-Dove making the event one of the most exciting rock and indie nights of the year.
